The state of Baja California South (BCS), Mexico covers the southern part the Baja California Peninsula. It borders the Northern State of Baja California North (BCN) which in turn borders the U.S. States of California and Arizona. The Baja California South coastline stretches 1,250 miles (2,000 kilometers) and is framed on the west by the Pacific Ocean and on the east by the Bay of California/Sea of Cortez. It covers 27 million square miles, just smaller in area than U.S. State of South Carolina with its population of 4,600,000.
The total population of the State of Baja California South (BCS) is just over 600,000 people. BCS is home to Biosphere Natural Reserve of El Viscaino which covers 6,177,635 square miles and is the largest natural reserve in Latin America as well as the 5 mile long Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park.
Baja California Sur (BCS) is serviced by most major U.S and Canadian airlines. It is also driveable from many U.S./Mexican gateway cities. Because of its ease of accessibility, it is often referred to as “The island you can drive to” with its unique land mass ranging from Sierra de la Giganta mountain range, to desert, to coastal beaches.
